With just a week left before submission of the final list of 21 players for the FIFA U20 World Cup, Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba has admitted he’s having good selection headache.
The team is currently in Nurnberg, Germany, making final preparations for the championship which holds in New Zealand from May 30, and Manu says the players have so far performed very well that he and his assistants will find it a tough task to drop any of the lads.
“The boys have been doing well and we are very proud of them but I think we will have a good selection headache when it comes to dropping some of them,” he admitted.
“It’s not going to be an easy thing to do because these boys have been giving their best since they arrived and it will be a bit difficult to drop some of them.
“But unfortunately we cannot take all of them to New Zealand so some of the will have to return home,” he said regretfully.
Asked if he finds it an advantage or otherwise to have so many ‘good players’, the former Nigeria U17 coach says it is always a good problem to have.
“It is an advantage of course, having to choose from a pool of very good players. I just feel for the ones that won’t make it but it’s not the end of the world,” he added.
